My name is Mr. Thuer / Coach Thuer

    In my position at Sunrise R-9, I teach 6th, 7th,and 8th grade Social Studies.

    I also teach Geography Enrichment for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.

    My additional duties involve the coaching of X-Country, Girls basketball, and the Quiz Bowl Academic Team.

    Teaching is my life and vocation. Children are our hope for  a stronger American society. I hope to continue to contribute to that ideal.

8^th Grade Social Studies

       We study American history from its start to the reconstruction period after the Civil War. We do other studies related to more modern history as time permits. The United States Constitution is studied with the requirement of passing all assessments to it content.

7^th Grade Social Studies

         This grade level relates to the study of world geography, relating not only to the physical aspects but also the human aspects of geography. There is also a stress on the study of the Missouri Constitution.

6th Grade Social Studies

        This grade level deals with the concepts of ancient history and the development of cultures and societies.

Our curriculum meets all state standards. I try to make the courses of study as interesting as possible with additional information being given through other forms of media.
